HHNerve Chex™ has been formulated with a combination of vitamins, minerals, herbs and glandulars to support a healthy mood [1]. Some of the specific components are discussed below:
Acerola Cherry is a naturally dense form of Food vitamins C that contains bioflavonoids. “Vitamin C may have anti-hypertensive activity…{its} antioxidant effects are well established” [2].
Nerve Chex™ contains multiple New Zealand Bovine Glandulars. New Zealand is a nation that has never had a case of BSE (bovine spongiform encephalopathy) [3-4]. Brain tissue contains “specific brain cell activators” [5]. They have been advised for slowness of thought, loss of memory, uncontrolled mental activity, nightmares, mental retardation, and epilepsy [6-7].
Calcium supports healthy blood pressure as well as bone and muscle health [2]. Calcium supplementation was helpful for those with hyperirritability [11] and {it} can affect mood [12-13].
Kelp is a Food high in minerals, especially iodine [14]. “Kelp can rebalance thyroid metabolism, resulting in successful weight management and the reversal of many conditions which are caused by a thyroid imbalance, including stomach and respiratory disorders” [15].
“Magnesium… plays a vital modulatory role in brain biochemistry, influencing several neurotransmission pathways associated with the development of depression” [16]. Manganese… “appears to affect manganese homeostasis in the brain, probably followed by alteration of neural activity” [17] and can affect mood [18].
Niacinamide has been found to improve mood [19]. Combined with vitamin B-6, Royal Lee advised it to people with “psychic manifestation,” melancholia, sensitivity to sunlight, as well as nervousness [20].
Para-Aminobenzoic Acid is known as PABA, it was once considered to be a B vitamin [21]. “A deficiency of PABA may lead to depression, fatigue, gastrointestinal disorders, graying of the hair, irritability, nervousness and patchy areas of the white skin” [22].
Vitamin B-6 is an essential nutrient [2]. “{It} is involved in the regulation of mental function and mood… Epidemiological studies indicate that poor vitamin B6 status is common among older people. Hyperhomocysteinaemia has been suggested as a cause or mechanism in the development of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia…” [23].
Vitamin B-12 has many functions including memory and mood [2]. Royal Lee wrote that vitamin B-12 was helpful for those with “slowness of thought” and apathy [24]. The vitamin B-12 in Nerve Chex is methylated.
Clinically, people who have taken Nerve Chex™ have reported mood improvements.
