For the ever-sentimental holiday we call Valentine’s Day, it seems like the ante is constantly being upped for creating show-stopping valentines to distribute to multiple special people. Parents may want to give identical creations to every student in their child’s class, while some who work in an office environment enjoy passing out goodwill goodies to each of their coworkers. If you’re on the hunt for the right DIY gift idea, and you’re good with the stars of the show being chocolate and dōTERRA® Peppermint, then this is your stop. Let’s get crafting!
To create Sweetheart Cups you’ll need:
dōTERRA Peppermint essential oil
Organic chocolate syrup
2-ounce squeeze bottles
Paper cups (with lids and holders if desired)
Decorative paper straws
Decorative paper shreds
Labels and paper embellishments
Place 1-2 drops Peppermint (to taste) in a 2-ounce squeeze bottle, then fill with chocolate syrup. Shake to mix, and label your chocolate peppermint syrup (get creative with the name!). Decorate bottle as you please, and pair with a package of tea and/or hot chocolate inside the paper cup. Fill the rest of the cup with decorative paper shreds, and creatively embellish the outside with stickers, ribbon, tape, and kind words. “A sweet treat for a sweetheart,” etc. The sky’s the limit there. Consider tucking in a small gift card for coffee or a similar treat.
Was that a bit much for some of us non-crafters?
For a decidedly simpler version, stick with the mini bottle of chocolate peppermint drizzle and tie a ribbon around it. Consider switching out Peppermint for another oil that pairs well with chocolate, such as Wild Orange or Cinnamon Bark. Be sure to taste your creation before bottling it; a little bit goes a very long way in flavoring!
Finally, with just four healthy ingredients, here’s a fantastic alternative to most processed candies you’ll find on store shelves.
To make dōTERRA Snacking Chocolates you’ll need:
1 cup dark chocolate chips
1 teaspoon coconut oil
½ cup almonds
dōTERRA Peppermint essential oil
Place chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl and melt together until smooth. Add in one drop (or less!) of essential oil and mix together. Pour melted chocolate onto wax paper on a cookie sheet and spread chocolate around with a spoon to make an even layer. Crush almonds and sprinkle over chocolate later. Place in fridge and allow to chill before breaking into pieces for snacking.
These delightful chocolate snacks would make a great addition to the Sweetheart Cups, wouldn’t they? Happy Valentine’s Day!
